Gratitude & Hope Holiday Run

Wed November 24 - Sat December 25 Bristol, RI 02809 US

“You’re giving a piece of yourself to the land by engaging with it, by running on it and giving it your energy, giving it your time, giving it that space and acknowledgment,” Dinée Dorame said, a citizen of the Navajo Nation.

Join us as we celebrate tradition in a non-traditional way - less a turkey trot, more an audio running tour.  We have created this virtual event to honor the original sentiment through the giving of food and the Indigenous belief of connecting with the earth.  We will be raising funds for local food banks as a means of sharing food with our neighbors and we will be running on courses that we hope will inspire you with their connection to our local Native American history and remind you to run with hope and joy for we are lucky to run in such beautiful locations.

"The ultimate is not to win, but to reach within the depths of your capabilities and to compete against yourself to the greatest extent possible. When you do that, you have dignity. You have the pride. You can walk about with character and pride no matter in what place you happen to finish."  ~Billy Mills, former Olympic Athlete and member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe.

You can choose to race anywhere or choose one of our 2 courses - each featuring both a 5k or 10k option.  The local courses will include historical Native facts and highlights representative of that area.  Complete the distance anytime between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Your race registration includes an Ocean State Rhode Race gaiter + $10 from each registration will be donated to either the East Bay Food Pantry or the Jonnycake Center, depending on your course choice.  There is also a virtual bib, finisher certificate, progress bar, finisher badge and more available as part of the virtual experience.
